By Joe Mennick | Updated Dec. 23, 2018 11:01:20Joe Carter is expected to miss six to eight weeks after being hurt in Saturday’s win over the Dallas Mavericks, league sources told ESPN.

The source also confirmed that Carter has been placed on injured reserve and that he has been transferred from the reserve list to the active roster.

It’s believed Carter’s status for Monday’s game against the Miami Heat will be a matter of when.

The Mavericks will likely need to fill Carter’s minutes on the roster, so it wouldn’t be surprising if he played a few minutes on Monday night.

Carter has averaged 18.3 points and 6.4 rebounds per game in his first five NBA games, averaging 18.0 points and 7.9 rebounds per contest.
