The Irish Examiner has published an article by former deputy first minister and leader of the opposition Michael McDowell in which he describes the process by which the “Irish state” was formed, from the coronavirus pandemic, and the fact that the Irish parliament is the only institution that is truly sovereign.

McDowell writes: “The state was created by the coronas pandemic.

But it is not a state of being.

It is a state where the citizens, the politicians, the public servants, the judges, the magistrates and the magisters, all of whom are appointed by the Irish state, are united to make it the most effective government in the world.”

The article continues by noting that the concept of the state is so ancient that the earliest legal records can be found in the “Golden Age” of the Republic of Ireland.

McDeWitt continued: “But the Irish people have not known it.

They were not told that the state was the one and only source of sovereignty, or that the only source was the king, the parliament, the constitution and the Constitution itself.

“The people in Ireland had never heard of the king and the parliament and they did not know what a parliament was, and they never knew what the constitution was.””

The Republic of Irish has not yet had the opportunity to be able to answer this article by McDowell. “
