The best-selling team in the majors this year is the New York Yankees, according to a report.
The Daily Mail reported Friday that the team’s season ticket sales are up 13 percent year-over-year for the first time in eight years, surpassing the $1.2 billion that the Red Sox and the Washington Nationals spent to build a new stadium in 2017.
The Yankees are also the top-selling MLB team this season with an average of $3,039 per ticket, according the report.
The next closest team is the Atlanta Braves, at $2,903.
The Los Angeles Dodgers, the reigning National League champs, have sold about 1.1 million tickets.
The report comes on the heels of another report from The Associated Press that found that the average team ticket price has gone up 20 percent since 2014, an increase that comes on top of an 18 percent increase in the last three years.
The increase comes despite the fact that the price of tickets have not increased nearly as much as the average fan has, according Topps Baseball, which tracks ticket prices.
Topps Baseball said it will release more details on the data this week.
The top-rated team in baseball in 2016 was the Kansas City Royals, who sold more than 11.5 million tickets in 2017, according The Associated Post.
That would make them the most popular team in MLB.
The second-most popular team was the Pittsburgh Pirates, who have sold more tickets than any other team in 2017 with nearly 9.3 million, according ESPN.
That’s also a record for the most-popular team in Major League Baseball.
The Dodgers and Giants, who each sold over 9.2 million tickets, are also among the most valuable teams in baseball, according Forbes.
The Oakland A’s, who are ranked fifth, are the second-least valuable team with a ticket price of just $1,521.
The teams with the lowest average ticket prices are the Miami Marlins at $1 and the Houston Astros at $3.
The number of teams with ticket prices below $3 is down from 17 in 2015, but still represents a significant increase from just two years ago, according Sports Illustrated.
